The Luyang Granary is located on the east side of Youyi South Road in Zhoushi Town, Kunshan, beside the serene Xintang River. Built in the 1990s and transformed from the former Luyang Grain Management Station, the Granary preserves the distinctive silhouette of its original architecture while introducing new cultural and leisure functions themed around grain storage heritage.
As part of Kunshan’s urban renewal and cultural preservation efforts, the project follows the principles of minimal intervention, subtle transformation, and respect for historical character—balancing conservation and revitalization. Through careful restoration and adaptive reuse, the site retains its historic identity while gaining new vitality as a space where the past and present meet.
Covering an area of approximately 20,000 square meters with a total floor space of 7,936 square meters, the project was completed in December 2024. Positioned as a “grain warehouse–themed cultural and lifestyle destination,” it combines traditional charm with modern urban energy to create a vibrant public space.
The project will be implemented in two phases. The first phase, featuring the Books, Roastery Cafe, Bakery Workshop, Tea, Child, and Warehouse, has begun trial operations since August 2025. The second phase, including creative dining, themed guesthouses, and shared offices, is currently under interior design and will open in August 2026.
