Penrith is a town in New South Wales, Australiam located in Greater Western Sydney, 55 kilometers west of the Sydney central business district on the banks of the Nepean River, on the outskirts of the Cumberland Plain. Its elevation is 32 meters.

Home to 220,786 people, Penrith supports 81,957 jobs and has an annual economic output of $30.287 billion. Health care and social assistance is Penriths largest employment sector supporting an estimated 13,869 jobs. Penrith City is the heart of Sydneys north-south growth arc-Australias most significant future economic growth corridor. Penrith is one of the major commercial centers in Greater Western Sydney. The suburb contains two shopping centers.

Penrith has a similar climate to Sydney, with greater temperature differences between day and night. Summer is usually quite warm with the average temperature ranges from 16 to 31 degrees celsius, while the average winter temperature ranges from 5 to 20 degrees Celsius. The average annual rainfall is 784 millimeters.

Penrith Railway Station is a major train station on the Sydney Trains network, serving the Northern Line and Western Line. It connects people traveling between cities and is also a stop on the intercity Blue Mountains Line.

Penrith Stadium is the home of the Penrith Panthers NRL team. Penrith's Junior Rugby League competition is the largest in the world, which also incorporates teams from the Blue Mountains, Blacktown and Windsor/Richmond areas. Penrith is home to world-class events such as the Rowing World Cup, Ironman 70.3 and the Real Festival.

Kunshan and Penrith became sister cities on October 31, 2013.
